The item that he is making is called PUTU MAYAM. It has- fresh grated coconut & finely chopped palm sugar mixed with fine brown sugar as the toppings. The fine white thread is made of rice flour and it is usually is flavored with pandan juice. The very fine noddles are steamed till cooked, that is what the bambo0 baskets are for. The items are usually sold out by noon.
Pandan is also known as screwpine leaf and has a distinctive flavor. It is used in many dishes in Malaysia and is also used as a green food coloring at times.
