Chinese New Year in Fraser's Hill, Pahang

My family and I went to Fraser's Hill for a family reunion. It is Chinese culture that you go to a family reunion every year, and collect ang pow.
Ang pow is, a small pouch filled with money. You will only get ang pow if you are not married. On the second day of CNY I had already collected 100 dollars!!!
Red is the Chinese Year color. It
means good luck and prosperity.

The view was amazing all day long.

BUKIT FRASER, PAHANG

These are my friends from Fraser's Hill. I will name their names left to right. The first one is Ahswin, Tinish, Sueraksha (Sue) , me myself and I, Shin Ying, and last but not least Siddh. The only one that is missing is Yuki, she is at the table in the orange shirt.

It is very dangerous to drive in the morning because the fog is tremendous.

The view was amazing at high pines.

5 star hotel, Miri - Sarawak

The first hotel that we stayed in was the Marriott. The hotel was 5 stars, so I thought that it was amazing! When I first got into the hotel, I asked my uncle Boon kudea why there were so many sea horses? He said that there were so many because it was Sarawak's mascot.

This seahorse is actually a light house near the beach that we saw. So far I think that I have seen 5 to 6 seahorses right after we had got off of the plane.

Brunei Darul Salam, Island of Borneo

In Brunei they have a lot of oil. That is why a lot of people work at Shell. If you are just driving around you would see a lot of gas pumping machines near by.

The whole Brunei has alot of these nodding donkeys. Can you imagine how much oil that is!!!

Sun Set Miri , Sarawak

The sunset at the boat club was amazing! We stayed there for dinner and me and my brother Siddh got to play at the beach. Can you guess what sea this is?

You can not see me because it was getting dark.

The sea breeze makes you want to go to sleep if you sit down. That is why the dinner was out side.

The menu- McDonalds in Miri, Sarawak

The menu looks good but really, that was the slowest Mc Donalds that i have ever been to! The line took about 2 and a half hours and that was just the line. [ that is what it felt like waiting...]We also had to get the food and that took about, 15 min.!

My favorite drink is Milo. A chocolate drink. Ribena is a fruit juice and is very popular too.

Very expensive. This is the special for Chinese new Year.

Up...

All of the wonderful lanterns are being put up by the workers for Chinese New Year which also falls on Feb 14th - Valentines day.

The Marriott in Miri, Sarawak

The swimming pool that was at the Marriott was amazing! It could cool you down in less than a minute.

This was the smallest rock that I could find to take home.

All of the rocks have been compressed for many years like this.

You can still see the sea shells in the rock right now.

First stop in Miri - the seahorse lighthouse and restaurant.

Fish tank with a huge fish swimming in it.

I am as tall as the banana tree at the restaurant.

These are beautiful wood carvings in the restaurant. It was undergoing renovation. It shows turtles.

This is the hotel that we are going to be staying in - the Marriott.

Air Asia flight to Miri , Sarawak

Air Asia is cheap way to travel within Malaysia and asia

The wait was long and we had to get up really early. We got up at 4:30 in the morning.

The flight that we went on was long but worth it. In the states I definitely do not remember be next to a plane so you could touch it.

The view was great in the EARLY morning.

1UTAMA

The duck was getting bigger!

My auntie Belinda took us to Rotiboy at 1utama. I have got to say that it is pretty good.

Part II @ 1UTAMA MALL

The 3 star gods - 'Fuk' [ FOOK] , 'Lok' [ LOOK], Sau' [ SHAU]. FUK is the God of Fortune represents prosperity, and is known as the wealth and happiness god. Luk represents authority and is known as the God of affluence and rank. On the other hand, Sau is the god of longevity and health. These 3 gods are often represented together. The Three Star Gods are available as Feng Shui items to attract prosperity, health, and wealth. Sau can be recognized by the bottle of nectar he is holding in his arms. Feng Shui stores say that he is carrying peach. But whatever item it is he is holding, that item symbolizes immortality. Being the Chinese deity of longevity and good health, Sau attracts good health. According to Feng Shui remedies, Sau prevents accidents and misfortune to those who reside in the space where Sau is placed. Fuk is wearing the red robe, represents prosperity, and is known as the wealth and happiness god. Luk is a symbol of a person’s ability to reap and achieve high rewards and man’s ability to improve oneself. He is always in the middle. [ so the display is not quite correct as Luk should be in the middle but he is on the left hand side instead. This is not a Feng Shui shop but one of antiques. ]

The decorations were everywhere... The kitty cat is called Maneki Neko - which brings fortune. It is from Japan and is a very popular ornament. The theme is PAWS-PERITY.
Lanterns also features prominently in CNY decorations all over.

This is a dress that Chinese opera singers wear. Goes with the 'red' theme for CNY. The color red is a must as it is a 'happy and prosperous' color.
